Learn 5 reasons why you should register to vote today. (If you’re already convinced, go ahead and register!)
1. Each state has its own voter registration deadline, but they’re all in early-to-mid October.
Some states voter registration deadlines are as early as October 4! But don’t stress—registering is easy, and you can find the deadline in your state at https://866ourvote.org/state/.
2. You got options! You can register to vote online, by mail, or in person.
Enough said! Check out 866ourvote.org/state/ for specific options in your state. And if you’re not sure if you’re registered to vote already, it’s easy to check!
3. Some of your favorite people want you to register to vote!
Zendaya, Kerri Washington, H.E.R., J. Lo, Tracee Ellis Ross, and others have been creating videos to encourage you to make yourself heard!
4. Registering to vote—and voting—makes sure you can help advocate for those who can’t.
Children, many incarcerated people, and others are ineligible to vote or to register. You can help push for issues relevant for these different people, helping make sure everyone in our communities are looked out for.
5. Voting is a way you can share your perspective, and your perspective matters.
“Voting is a tool in a larger toolbox for social change,” our CEO Alexis Anderson-Reed wrote in an article with Prism earlier this year. “Electoral justice isn’t just about casting a ballot; it’s about how we can use elections as a tactic to set ourselves up for a truly liberated future.”
