Yessica Jimenez, also known as Xeroine Illustration, is a Xicana illustrator and visual artist based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

She was born and raised in Milwaukee and have a BFA in Fine Art from MIAD with a focus in illustration. Yessica’s IPad is the primary tool she uses to create, and she occasionally dabbles in gouache and watercolors.

“I am the main subject matter in most of my work,” Yessica says. “While my pieces aren’t all literal self-portraits, all of my works focus on different aspects of my identity.” Themes of spirituality, trauma, body image and being a WOC are often represented in her fantastical paintings and illustrations. Although her personal pieces are reflections of herself, Yessica creates with the intention to represent and empower members of all her communities. Not all forms of empowerment look like literal representations of strength, sometimes it can be plus-size mermaids or Womxn of Color embodying the Zodiac signs.

When Yessica’s not working on personal projects, she often works with local musicians and writers to create album art, merch-designs and book covers. She’s also a member of the local art collective called LUNA – Latinas Unidas eN Las Artes; A collective with over 30 local Latina and Latinx artists. LUNA was created with the intention of unifying Latina and Latinx artists while providing a platform in the art community that often forgets we exist.
